Camp Rumbug

On Monday the 21st of May, the grade 5's and 6's headed off to Camp Rumbug. The bus trip took about 2 hours. Luckily no one had breakfast coming out of their mouth.
When we arrived, we got the luggage out of the bus and got welcomed by the camp coordinator, Pete. After the introduction of the camp we headed to our cabins, got everything setup and had B.Y.O lunch in the dining room. When everybody finished their lunch, we got on three layers of clothes, a T-shirt, a jacket, a raincoat and walked down the trail which lead to the campfire area. We had to do this fun and fitness course, where you had to hold hands with a person opposite your gender, and then go through some muddy obstacles. In one of them, you had to go through a mud pit which went up to your waist. Other than that one, all the other obstacles were quite easy. After that you could imagine how muddy we were. We had to walk stiffly back up the steep hill for dinner.
The next day we did a lot of activities including the Scare Bear. It was basically a giant swing, which is a modified version of the playground swing. We also did the Crazy Wombat Dodge-a game like dodgeball, Mt Falofalot- a rock climbing course where people fall-off-a-lot, abseiling, archery, the initiatives course. Those were all the dry activities. The wet and muddy activities were canoeing, the Drawbridge course and the Adventure Bridge-muddy courses, bird mapping-like orienteering, and the titanic raft- an activity where you had to get every gruop member to the jetty on the opposite side using only a raft with four small paddles.
We had lots of fun at camp, but we had to leave two days later on Wednesday. I look forward to going to more camps!

CAMP RUMBUG

CAMP SPEECH: FUN AND FITNESS RUN!
When we arrived at camp rumbug we soon realised that it was quite big, in fact it’s a twenty minute walk to get to the wet activities. But I’ll tell you about the wet activities. When we got in to our cabins my cabin consisting of Zac.A Karan Yi-Cheng Jackie Jordy Dylan Isaac Ashim and I we got changed for our first activity (well I did anyway because I was wearing jeans). When we got down to the camp fire walk (which was a twenty minute walk) we were told we had to get a girl partner and do a lap with all these commando course obstacles and run holding hands. As it turned out, I got two boys Zac.A and Neal and that was the fun fitness run.

Camp Rumbug

Out of all the activities at Camp Rumbug, my favourite activity was abseiling. We couldn’t wait to go on the abseiling tower. When it was my turn I got my harness on, I had to start climbing up the ladder. When I was halfway there, it started getting very creepy. At the top,Justin, the camp helper said turn around and stand on the edge. I was like "what the heck". I stepped, he lowered me down I was getting used to it, then I slipped, but It was okay. When I got to the bottom I was really happy with what I had achieved.

grade 5/6 camp

Camp Rumbug

This year's grade 5/6 camp was at a place in South Gippsland called camp Rumbug. Camp Rumbug contains various muddy activities(and a few dry ones). Most of the muddy or wet activities were over water, mud or both. The camp accommodation was good. We had 6 bunkrooms with 6 bunkbeds. The food was excellent. There are 6 meals each day which are breakfast, lunch, dinner, supper and morning and afternoon tea. The activities were great! We even had a night-walk.This is (by far) the best camp ever!!!

Abseiling at camp

Abseiling

On the second day of camp my group was the koalas. One of our activities was abseiling. It looked like a big tower with a house on top and attached to it was a 10 meter wall. When our group got there some people were horrified including me! I was 4th to do abseiling. When I was climbing the ladder I was freaking out. While I was climbing the ladder I kept on thinking that the tower will fall down. Then I finally got up to the top then I went into the little house and sat down.  Then it was my turn to go down the wall. The guy clipped me up to another rope and told me to put my heals over the ledge. He lowered me down the wall the wall. When I got off the top and on the wall I was having a fantastic time. When I got on the ground I wanted to go again. I think this activity was to have fun and overcome you fear.

Dubstep around the Campfire

On the second night at Camp Rumbug, groups 10 – 12 were sitting/standing around the campfire at the intersection in the centre of the campsite. The other groups were on a bushwalk.
It was nice and warm and we had marshmallows. Mr Kelly was performing some classic Friday Assembly songs, people were chatting and swing torches around to make somewhat of a lightshow, and some people (ok, only 1 person) saying they’d like to jump into the fire (that how cold the student was). Many people were crowded around an iPad listening to Adele and Michael Bublé and stuff. Then I asked: “Hey, how about Dubstep music, is that on the iPad?”. We searched through the iTunes playlists and found none. We used the iPad for the disco/rave party, and there was a Dubstep song, so I could’ve sworn it was on the iPad.
But then Gavan, a parent who went to camp, said that it was his iPhone that had the Dubstep songs on it and he had plugged it in at the disco/rave party. He let me listen to songs such as Katy Parry – E.T (Noisia Dubstep Remix) and a 52 minute Dubstep mix (which I only heard about 3 minutes of).
It was awesome!! The songs (well, ALL Dubstep songs) featured bass drops that sound like: WUBWOBWIBWEEEEEEBYEA-A-A-AHWOOBWUBWUBZZZIIIIIIIOOOOOOOM. I enjoyed it a lot, but we needed to go back to our seats and listen to the teacher’s instructions for the next day. In my bunkroom, I was a bit carried about how I listened to electronic music in a camp with no electronics... or not meant to have any electronics.

TRUE STORY

5-6 Camp

This week grade 5-6 kids went on camp to camp Rumbug. we had the biggest cabin we had 14 girls in our cabin it was a hand full. This camp was by far the best school camp I have ever been to there was mud mud and more mud. Almost every activity involved mud it was so awesome. My favorite was the Nitro course because there was a mudpit  and you had to get from one platform across to the other without touching the bottom. I got across very easily  it was my favorite Camp by FAR!!!!!!!!!!

Camp Rumbug

 CAMP RUMBUG

As you well know the grade 5’s and 6’s drove up to Foster, South Gippsland to have an Enjoyable time staying at CAM RUMBUG!!JJ All the activities were really good but the one I’m going to talk about is Going to be the Scare Bear. The scare bear is actually a Giant Swing. In the distance it looks like two huge Poles in the ground and a thin steel wire to pull you up to the Terrifying 10 metre drop below. After you get strapped into the harness and put the glasses and helmet on, you climbed the ladder and got strapped in. Your group members pulled a rope which goes through several pulleys to get your weight to the top. Meanwhile your tummy is wobbling and you have butterflies. When you reach the top you feel like yelling out: “Why am I doing this’’. They yell out 3, 2, 1 and you go flopping and flying down and up about 10 times until you stop gently. Thank you for reading this recount about Camp!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In term 2 the level 4's topic/unit was "Natural Disasters". We learnt how they start, why, where and how they occur. It was an interesting topic to learn about.
Here is an acrostic poem about a natural disaster:
